encryptions

the death march formal:

For those who have known me long enough know that this is my 100th blog attempt. But, seeing as how I’m settling into my 20’s and pretty much all my friends are graduating or have graduated from college, the reality of life after school is coming quick. The fact that I’m a Creative Writing major doesn’t really help the cause, especially since my passion lies in clothing/fashion/entrepreneurship. So, the death march formal blog is my first honest attempt at “blogging”. And by honest I mean putting effort into the posts and trying to do more than just post things that I like from other blogs/sites; more original content and not just commentary.

Like 99% of my writing/ideas, the title came before any meaning. “the death march formal” just popped into my head at work and it never left. But, the second it sprang into mind the meaning(s) raced right behind it:

The only inevitability in life is death. We are all marching towards death, as morbid as that sounds. But, it is not a bad thing. I’m still young, but I’m slowly realizing that the time I’m given is precious and I should use it to experience life and do things that I truly love and want to do. I don’t want to get a standard 9-5 job sitting at a desk doing God knows what. Sure, it pays the bills and is deemed “respectable” by society, but it just doesn’t appeal to me. Ultimately, I want to be successful in the fashion/clothing business and to one day own my own little boutique (or two, or three). But, writing has always been a passion of mine and a faithful companion in times of darkness. I strangely want the struggle so that when I put something out into the world, I know that it means something.

I think the biggest thing and most exciting part for me in venturing with this new blog is the aspect of getting involved with what I’m interested in and a fan of. I want to start using more of my original pictures and maybe even start learning how to cut and piece together videos. These pictures and videos would be connected to the biggest/newest thing I want to try and incorporate into the blog: interviews! I have met so many great and interesting people through my adventures with Rude Etiquette that it would seem stupid not to share with people how wonderful these people and their work are. I try my best to support them and why not try and do it with little segments about them on this little blog? Hopefully some of them will agree to do interviews/photo sessions! *fingers crossed*

Please follow and be on the lookout for future posts! This will be the most I “speak” for a while.
